My Bali Escape
Take me there, Grand Hyatt, Nusa Dua, Bali.
Book your next tropical holiday at the All-Inclusive Grand Hyatt Bali.
Now that Air New Zealand are flying direct to Bali, we thought it would be a good excuse to re-visit Bali. Over the years I’ve stayed in many different areas of Bali (like our town suburbs, but larger) and watched them grow in popularity, then for only new areas to pop up.
However, one area I have never spent time in is Nusa Dua. For those who travel to Fiji this is Bali’s version of Denarau. A gated community, clean beaches, and tight security to access your resort. I have to say, I felt a sense of relief not to be amongst the bustling Seminyak/Kuta area and what feels like hundreds of beeping scooters.
Staying at The Grand Hyatt Bali
The Grand Hyatt Nusa Dua is everything its name and location suggests, grand and big. Built for purpose many years ago on prime beachfront land this resort offers fantastic quality and affordable luxury.
When arriving, the open-air lobby is a hive of activity, but it’s not long until the friendly Grand Hyatt staff are checking you in swiftly and directing you to your impressively spacious room (the smallest rooms are 49 sqm).
We decided to try the ‘All-Inclusive’ deal, which means all meals and beverages are included – and yes, that’s all alcohol. Surely with the price of cocktails these days this All-Inclusive offer is already a winner!
Our room was well presented and large with a great balcony. We had a lovely view over a well landscaped pond looking out onto one of the many pools and the shimmering Indian Ocean in the distance.
The resort is huge, in fact it covers 41 acres, so finding your way around is the first thing to figure out.
This is a one-stop resort destination where you can totally relax and never leave with a range of top quality, award-winning restaurants, 5 pools to choose from, a spa centre, fitness centre, activity centre and so much more to fill your time with.
It was busy at the resort when we were there (we travelled during Easter), so we reserved our dinners in advance for every night, which is the best idea.
We could pretty much have everything on all the menus within our “All-Inclusive” deal. It was just the top food offerings like lobster and top cuts of meats that weren’t included. But honestly, the “standard” menus at all the restaurants were ample enough.
You won’t go short of food and drinks, the cocktails menu offered a great range as well as the beers, wines – no issue there.
The beach in front of the resort is well looked after and there are plenty of deck chairs that you can order your drinks and food from using a QR code. The beach is shaded by trees and is a stunning beach to walk along.
The service here is excellent! Nothing was an issue, the staff were quick on their delivery and always with a smile or a friendly chat. To have 7 nights of great service actually was a game changer and really makes a memorable holiday.
For this trip we decided to stay put at the resort rather than go exploring as we had already seen much of Bali on previous trips. If you are keen for a bit of shopping however, Nusa Dua actually have their own shops called ‘Bali Connection’ with a good offering to get your shopping fix.
Quad bike tour in Ubud
We did decide to venture out one day and try an ATV (Quad Biking) tour in Ubud. The ATV track was very well planned out with lots of fast high hill climbing and driving through waterways. The tour lasted about 1 ½ hours plus we had additional time for a BBQ lunch.
It was a lot of fun, plenty of laughter and excitement and the perfect activity to do with a group of friends or family.
The only negative is the heavy traffic getting there. It took a long time to get from Nusa Dua to Ubud and then back again. But that’s Bali for you, it’s ever-growing popularity means its not getting any quieter hence the attraction of a calmer pace at Nusa Dua.
Mix up your Bali stay
Overall, I highly recommend the Grand Hyatt Bali for families, couples and solo travellers. There is no Adults Only outside pool however, but there is one inside in the Fitness Centre. This is not really an issue though as all the outside pools are massive with plenty of areas to find a quiet spot.
The All-Inclusive offering is such a great deal and at no time did we feel we had overpaid for the package.
My suggestion, if you want to mix up your stay, is to spend 4 nights in one area and 4 nights in the next – just so you are not always battling the busy traffic.
